MASSAGE MAGAZINE, May-June 2000 issue:

"...The word lullabye might bring to mind the image of childish music, or of light-hearted
sing-along tunes. "Bamboo Flute Lullabies of Japan", however, is a CD full of
rich, textural, enchanting music from a great Japanese tradition. The nine soothing
melodies of this CD are all derived from folk-song lullabies of rural Japan.
The artists have chosen not to include lyrics, however, leaving only delicate, traditional
instrumental music. The recording uses Japanese instruments, combined with keyboards,
guitar and percussion. The nine thematic melodies are performed on the shakuhachi,
a bamboo flute with a haunting, rich tone, which originated in China, and was
further developed in Medieval Japan as a Zen meditation tool.
" I find music of this genre to be very relaxing, and appropriate for a massage session.
This recording is no exception: it is full of the wonderful soothing sounds
one expects from traditional Japanese music."

·NEW AGE magazine:

"..This CD takes an unusal approach to lullabies, presenting traditional Japanese folk
melodies played on the shakuhachi flute. Koto, guitar and
keyboards accompany on various tracks. Nine soothing melodies from the folk-song tradition of rural Japan, crafted into lush, modern arrangements. Beautiful sounds from an ancient
culture
for the contemporary listener. "
